Progressive Contracting Company, Inc. (PCCI) provided the full historic
restoration of the Chowan County Courthouse the finest Georgian courthouse in the south and is one of the oldest and most important public
government buildings in North Carolina. The courthouse underwent a total restoration starting in June 1998 and was completed in October 2004. The courthouse is still in use today

Some of the construction highlights on this historic courthouse included:
masonry restoration, cleaning, repairs and replacements using handmade brick and period formula lime-putty.
yorkstone flooring and step preservation and replacements using stone quarried and transported from Yorkshire England
period reproduction of hand forged hardware for windows, doors, and shutters, and fabrication of period weathervane for installation atop the clock tower dome. All existing hardware was rehabilitated to original operating condition
preservation, repairs and replacement of timber frame members and components throughout the structure at all floor levels at main roof structure.
installation of new cypress shingle roof system hand split from old growth mined logs. Approximately 24,000 shingles were fabricated
traditionally, hand split with foe and mallet, shaped and driven with drawknives.
restored operation of Seth Thomas clock mechanism in the clock tower, that included the 23k gold leaf painting on the hands and numerals.
